The SHARKBITE/CASH ACME 23055 is a dedicated crimp ring removal tool designed to cut away copper crimp rings from PEX pipe without damaging the barbed insert fitting underneath. When a mis-installation occurs, this tool gives plumbers a fast, controlled way to strip the crimped connection and recover the fitting for reuse. The tool works by inserting the stub end into the fitting, positioning the cutting blade on the outside of the PEX pipe, and squeezing the handles to slice cleanly through the pipe wall. The fitting can be reused if it is found to be undamaged after removal.
This tool is used in residential and light commercial plumbing applications wherever PEX pipe is joined with copper crimp rings over barbed insert fittings. It is the appropriate corrective tool when a crimp ring is placed incorrectly, out of position, or needs to be removed for any other service reason. Plumbers working with PEX-A, PEX-B, or PEX-C distribution systems will find this tool useful during both new construction and retrofit work. Each package contains 6 units.
Designed for use with copper crimp rings installed over barbed insert PEX fittings in standard PEX plumbing systems.
This tool is used by licensed plumbers during corrective service on PEX crimp-ring connections. Before beginning removal, shut off water supply to the affected line and relieve system pressure. Cut the PEX pipe as close to the end of the barbed insert fitting as possible before inserting the tool, and open the tool fully before placing the stub end into the fitting. Inspect the barbed insert fitting carefully for damage before reinstalling a new crimp ring and connection.
