The SHARKBITE/CASH ACME 22791 is a 1/2 inch PEX barbed copper stubout elbow designed to make a 90-degree turn inside wall cavities, routing a PEX supply line to a termination point at the wall surface for fixture connection. The barbed inlet accepts 1/2 inch PEX pipe secured with a 1/2 inch cinch clamp or 1/2 inch copper crimp ring. The copper stubout end extends through the wall and is cut to length on the job, leaving a copper stub that accepts a push-on shutoff valve, compression shutoff valve, or sweat copper shutoff valve. This fitting is sold without a nailing plate. Licensed plumbers and rough-in crews install this fitting during the framing stage of new construction or remodel work.
This stubout elbow is used in residential and light commercial PEX rough-in applications where a supply line must transition from inside a wall to an exposed stub at a sink, lavatory, toilet, or similar plumbing fixture location. The closed 4 inch by 8 inch copper stub configuration positions the outlet at a consistent standout from the framing, keeping rough-in dimensions predictable. The fitting is installed before drywall and the copper end is capped or protected until final trim-out.
Designed for use with 1/2 inch PEX pipe systems using standard 1/2 inch cinch clamp or 1/2 inch copper crimp ring tooling. The copper stubout end is compatible with push-on shutoff valves, compression shutoff valves, and sweat copper shutoff valves of appropriate inlet size.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber during the rough-in phase, prior to insulation and drywall. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before making any PEX connections. Secure the PEX barbed end using an approved cinch clamp tool or copper crimp ring tool per the fitting type and local plumbing code requirements, referencing IPC or applicable jurisdiction standards. Do not install the shutoff valve on the copper stub until the stub has been cut to final length and the end has been deburred.
