The SGS PRO 12975 is a single-cut tungsten carbide abrasive bur in an oval head shape, conforming to industry specification SE-3. It is designed for material removal, deburring, and contouring on a range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The 3/8 inch cutting diameter and 5/8 inch length of cut make it well-suited for work in confined areas or on curved surfaces. With a 1/4 inch shank diameter and an overall length of 2-3/8 inches, the bur mounts in standard die grinders, rotary tools, and flexible-shaft machines. Licensed machinists, toolmakers, metal fabricators, and maintenance technicians are the typical end users of this tool.
This bur is used for stock removal and surface finishing on steel, hardened steel, stainless steel, cast iron, titanium, nickel, copper, copper alloys, and cermet. It is appropriate for both bench-top and in-place grinding tasks in manufacturing, fabrication shops, and industrial maintenance settings. The single-cut tooth style produces a smoother finish with lower chip load than double-cut designs, making it a good choice where surface quality matters alongside material removal rate.
Designed for use in die grinders, rotary tools, and flexible-shaft machines accepting a 1/4 inch shank. Suitable for cutting steel, hardened steel, stainless steel, cast iron, titanium, cermet, nickel, copper, and copper alloys as stated in the product specifications.
A licensed machinist or qualified metal fabricator should mount this bur in a collet rated for the intended RPM before operation. Confirm the tool and machine are both rated at or above 37,500 RPM before use, and never exceed the rated maximum speed. Secure the workpiece before grinding, wear appropriate eye and face protection, and inspect the bur for chips or damage before each use. Power down and disconnect the grinder from its power source before changing burs.
