The SGS 93272 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling in steel and other ferrous materials. With a 0.0313-inch (1/32 inch) mill diameter and matching 0.0313-inch length of cut, this tool is built for small-diameter, detailed work where tight tolerances matter. The AlTiN coating improves heat resistance and wear life during high-speed cutting. A 30-degree helix angle and 2-flute right-hand spiral geometry promote efficient chip evacuation in demanding applications. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the rigidity needed to maintain dimensional accuracy at this diameter. This is a single-end tool intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on CNC machining centers.
The SGS 93272 is suited for roughing operations in steel and similar primary workpiece materials, including hardened and alloy steels. Its extended-reach configuration, with a 0.0625-inch reach length and 0.0250-inch neck diameter, allows access to recessed features and tight pockets that standard-length end mills cannot reach. The 1/4-inch shank diameter fits standard collet systems commonly found on vertical machining centers and high-speed spindles. Series 56B tooling from SGS is positioned for applications where tool longevity and cut quality in ferrous materials are the primary performance requirements.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and high-speed spindles equipped with standard 1/4-inch collet or end mill holders. Primary workpiece material is steel (Material Code H). Not designed for coolant-through applications.
Install and remove end mills only with the spindle powered off and the machine in a locked-out state per applicable machine safety procedures. Seat the 1/4-inch shank fully into the collet before torquing the holder to the machine manufacturer specification. At this diameter, runout must be minimized — inspect the collet and holder for wear or contamination before use. Handle micrograin carbide tooling carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edge during setup.
