The SGS 77318 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for finishing operations in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 1 inch cutting diameter, a 3 inch length of cut, and a 0.06 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the tool tip and extends tool life in hard-material passes. The 7-flute, right-hand helical geometry in the Series 77C configuration provides close pitch spacing for smooth chip evacuation during high-material-removal finishing cuts. An AlTiN coating via the proprietary Ti-NAMITE-A process delivers thermal resistance and oxidation protection, making this tool well-suited for dry or near-dry cutting environments where heat buildup is a concern.
This end mill is intended for finish milling of steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, as well as secondary application in hard materials. It fits standard end mill holders with a 1 inch straight cylindrical shank. Typical use cases include contouring, profiling, and floor finishing in CNC machining centers where tight diameter tolerances and consistent corner geometry are required. The chipbreaker geometry and variable index contribute to reduced chatter and improved surface finish on ferrous and high-temperature alloy workpieces.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders accepting a 1 inch straight cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys and titanium; secondary application covers hard materials.
This tool is installed by a machinist or CNC setup technician using a compatible end mill holder; verify holder runout and collet condition before seating the shank. Power down and lock out the spindle before tool changes per machine-specific lockout/tagout procedures. Confirm the shank is fully engaged to the minimum insertion depth specified by the holder manufacturer. Do not use this end mill for centercutting operations, as it is not center-cutting geometry.
