The SGS 77297 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance finishing operations in demanding materials. It features a 1-inch mill diameter, a 2.5-inch length of cut, and a 0.0300-inch corner radius, making it well-suited for semi-finishing and finishing passes where edge integrity and surface finish are critical. The 7-flute, right-hand spiral design with close pitch and variable index geometry reduces chatter and improves chip evacuation. A TM coating enhances wear resistance and tool life in abrasive and hard workpiece materials. This tool is part of SGS Series 77C and is intended for use in CNC machining centers with compatible end mill toolholders.
This end mill is designed for finishing applications in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, as well as secondary use in hard materials. With a 5.5-inch overall length, 1-inch straight-cylindrical shank, and a 37-degree helix angle, it is suited for medium to deep-reach finishing operations on horizontal and vertical machining centers. The single-end, non-centercutting design means it is intended for peripheral and profile milling, not plunge cutting. It is appropriate for production shops and tool rooms running close-tolerance contoured or flat-bottomed features.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium; secondary application in hard materials. This tool is not centercutting and is not intended for plunge entry.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the shank fully within the toolholder to the recommended gauge-line depth before tightening to manufacturer torque specifications for the holder type in use. Verify spindle runout at the cutting diameter before committing to a finishing pass, as runout directly affects surface finish and tool life with high-flute-count tools. Do not use this tool for plunge cutting, as it is a non-centercutting design.
