The SGS 77242 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for finishing operations in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. It features a 5/8-inch mill diameter, a 0.06-inch corner radius, and 7 helical flutes ground from micrograin carbide. The AlTiN coating — marketed under SGS proprietary designation Ti-NAMITE-A — delivers thermal resistance and extended tool life in high-heat cutting environments. A close pitch configuration and variable index flute spacing reduce chatter and harmonics during aggressive passes. With a 2.5-inch length of cut and 4.5-inch overall length, this is a long-reach tool suited to deep-wall profiling and finishing passes where a standard-length end mill cannot reach.
The SGS 77242 is designed for finishing cuts in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, as well as hard materials. It is a single-end, right-hand cut, right-hand flute tool with a straight cylindrical shank compatible with standard end mill holders. The Series 77C geometry and close pitch make it particularly well suited to high-material-removal finishing passes on hardened workpieces. This tool is used primarily in CNC machining centers by machinists and toolroom professionals in job shop, aerospace, and precision manufacturing environments.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders accepting a 5/8-inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Not centercutting; not recommended for direct plunge entry.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by qualified machining personnel with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Secure the straight cylindrical shank in a compatible end mill holder to the torque specifications required by the holder manufacturer. This tool is not centercutting and should not be used for direct plunge cuts; ramp or helical entry paths are required. Verify runout after clamping and before commencing a cut to protect both the tool and the workpiece.
