The SGS 77233 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding industrial and production environments. It features a 5/8 inch cutting diameter, a 2-1/2 inch length of cut, and a 4-1/2 inch overall length, placing it in the extra-long category for extended-reach applications. The 7-flute geometry with a variable helix angle of 37 degrees improves chip evacuation and reduces harmonic vibration during cutting. A TiN (Titanium Nitride) finish increases surface hardness and wear resistance. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the toughness and edge retention needed for high-speed, high-feed operations. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC operators in job shop and production machining environments.
The SGS 77233 is suited for milling ferrous and non-ferrous metals, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by the primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its extra-long length of cut makes it appropriate for deep pocket milling, slotting, and profiling operations where standard-length tools cannot reach. The straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance ensures accurate toolholder fitment in collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit systems. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional CNC machining center spindles.
Designed for use in standard 5/8 inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders with h6 bore tolerance. Compatible workpiece material codes per supplier data: H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering tool steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, carbon steels, and high-temperature alloys.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators following machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or lockout/tagout state before changing tooling. Confirm the shank is fully seated and clean before torquing the toolholder to the spindle manufacturer specification. Because this end mill is non-centercutting, use a drilled or pre-milled entry point rather than direct plunge cutting into solid stock.
