The SGS 77183 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance finishing operations in ferrous and hard materials. Built to Series 77C standards, it features a 1/2-inch mill diameter, 7-flute geometry with a close pitch, and a 0.06-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at part edges. The micrograin carbide substrate paired with a TiN coating supports extended tool life in demanding cutting environments. A variable index design minimizes chatter, making this tool well-suited for smooth surface finishes on tight-tolerance workpieces. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops or production facilities are the primary users.
This end mill is intended for finishing passes on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, as well as hard materials. The right-hand cutting direction and right-hand helical flutes are standard for conventional CNC milling setups. The 1-1/4-inch length of cut and 3-1/4-inch overall length give it reach suitable for moderate-depth peripheral and slot finishing. It is a single-end tool held in standard end mill holders.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders accepting a 1/2-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for right-hand CNC milling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per Series 77C application guidelines.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC technicians familiar with milling tooling and machine tool safety. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before installing or removing the tool from the holder. Verify holder runout before initiating finishing passes, as excessive runout will accelerate wear on a 7-flute tool and degrade surface finish. This tool is not center-cutting and is not suitable for plunge operations.
