The SGS 77153 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance finishing operations in demanding materials. Built to Series 77C specifications, it features a 3/8 inch mill diameter, a 1-1/8 inch length of cut, and a 0.0150 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge. Seven flutes with a close pitch and 37-degree high helix promote chip evacuation and surface finish quality. A TM coating extends tool life when cutting abrasive and hard workpiece materials. The straight cylindrical shank measures 3/8 inch in diameter, and overall length is 3.25 inches. This tool is intended for use with standard end mill toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
The SGS 77153 is suited for finishing passes in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, as well as secondary applications in hard materials. Its variable index geometry reduces harmonic chatter during long-reach cuts, making it a practical choice for close-tolerance profiling, contouring, and slot finishing where corner geometry must be held tightly. The single-end, right-hand cutting configuration and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC setups. It is not center-cutting and is not designed for plunge entry.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary material application covers hard materials. This is a single-end tool and is not suitable for plunge or center-cutting operations.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into an appropriate end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, as micrograin carbide tools are sensitive to excessive runout-induced chipping.
