The SGS 77144 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance finishing operations in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 3/8-inch mill diameter, 7 helical flutes, and a 0.030-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at cutting edges and extends tool life. The tool carries a Ti-NAMITE-A AlTiN coating, which improves heat resistance and wear performance at elevated cutting temperatures. The close-pitch, right-hand cutting geometry and variable index flute spacing reduce chatter and vibration during aggressive finishing passes. A licensed machinist or toolroom technician typically selects this end mill for finishing steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium.
This end mill is suited for finishing cuts on ferrous metals and difficult-to-machine alloys in CNC machining centers and manual mills. Typical applications include profile milling, shoulder milling, and contour work where a controlled corner radius is required to match a part print or reduce edge chipping. The 15/16-inch length of cut (0.9000 inches) and 3-inch overall length make it appropriate for moderate-depth features in mold work, die work, and precision component machining. It mounts in standard end mill holders with a straight-cylindrical shank.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders accepting a 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium; secondary application is hard materials. Part of the SGS Series 77C product line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom professional. Secure the shank fully in a compatible end mill holder and verify runout before cutting. This tool is not centercutting and should not be used for plunge operations. Coolant-through is not supported; apply external coolant or cutting fluid as required by the workpiece material and machine setup.
