The SGS 77131 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for finishing operations in demanding machining environments. It features a 1/4 inch mill diameter with a 0.015 inch corner radius and 7 helical flutes for fine surface finishes and close tolerances. The tool runs single-end with a right-hand cutting direction and right-hand flute spiral. At 3 inches overall length with a 1 inch length of cut, the Series 77C geometry is engineered for stability in long-reach finishing passes on ferrous and hard materials. A TiN coating protects the micrograin carbide substrate during high-temperature cuts.
This end mill is suited for finishing passes on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium in CNC machining centers and manual mills. The chipbreaker geometry and close-pitch flute spacing help manage chip evacuation in these difficult-to-machine materials. The straight cylindrical shank mounts in standard end mill holders. Secondary workpiece material capability extends to hard materials, making this tool appropriate for hardened steel finishing applications in tool and die, aerospace component, and precision part manufacturing.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary application extends to hard materials. Refer to SGS Series 77C tooling documentation for recommended speeds, feeds, and holder specifications.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians using a compatible end mill holder torqued per the holder manufacturer specification. Verify spindle runout is within acceptable tolerance before engaging the workpiece, as excessive runout accelerates corner radius wear on fine-geometry tools. This tool is not center-cutting and should not be used for plunge entry. Always de-energize the machine and confirm spindle stop before changing tooling.
