The SGS 74116 is a single-flute countersink designed for creating conical seat angles in a wide range of materials. It features an 82-degree included angle and a 5/8-inch head diameter, making it suited for standard flat-head fastener preparation. The straight cylindrical shank measures 3/8 inch in diameter and accepts standard drill chuck tooling. At 3 inches overall length, the tool offers solid reach without sacrificing rigidity. The bright, uncoated alloy steel construction provides adequate hardness for production and maintenance machining tasks. Machinists, toolmakers, and mechanical contractors install this tool in hand-held drills, drill presses, and CNC machining centers.
This countersink is intended for material applications including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, titanium, high-temperature alloys, non-ferrous metals, composites, and plastics. It is well suited to both shop fabrication and field drilling operations where flat-head screw seating is required. The single-flute design reduces chatter during hand-feed operations and is a practical choice when working with harder or more abrasive materials that demand controlled chip evacuation. The tool ships individually and is sold as a single unit.
Designed for use with standard 3/8-inch drill chucks, collets, and keyless chuck systems on handheld drills, drill presses, and CNC machining centers. Compatible material applications include cast iron, composites, high-temperature alloys, non-ferrous metals, plastics, stainless steel, steel, and titanium.
Install the shank securely in a drill chuck or collet before starting the spindle. Ensure the workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent movement during the countersinking operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when working with stainless steel or titanium to extend tool life and improve finish quality. Inspect the cutting edge before each use and replace the tool if chipping or dullness is observed.
