The SGS 70561 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for precision metal removal in demanding machining applications. Built to Series 7MS specifications, it features a 0.7087-inch mill diameter, a 2.9528-inch length of cut, and a matching 0.7087-inch straight cylindrical shank. The four-flute, right-hand spiral geometry is paired with a variable index design to reduce harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts. An AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The micrograin carbide substrate delivers hardness and edge retention suitable for high-speed milling operations. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working in job shop and production environments.
The SGS 70561 is rated for use across multiple primary workpiece material codes including H, K, M, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon and alloy steels, and high-temperature superalloys. Its centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry, making it suitable for pocketing, slotting, and profiling operations. The regular-length classification and standard straight shank suit it for use in collet chucks and end mill holders on vertical machining centers and mill-turn equipment.
Designed for use in standard end mill holders and collet chuck tooling systems accepting an 18 mm (0.7087-inch) straight cylindrical shank. Compatible workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the tool. Secure the shank to the full recommended insertion depth in the tool holder and torque the retention mechanism according to the tool holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with an indicator before beginning a production cut.
