The SGS 70554 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in demanding machining environments. Built to Series 7MS specifications, it features a 0.2362-inch (6.00 mm) mill diameter, a 0.9843-inch (25.00 mm) length of cut, and four spiral flutes with a right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction. The AlTiN finish provides elevated heat and wear resistance, extending tool life in high-speed applications. Micrograin carbide construction delivers edge integrity and dimensional accuracy on challenging workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators rely on this end mill for high-tolerance slotting, profiling, and side milling operations.
This end mill is suited for milling operations across a range of workpiece materials including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon and alloy steels, and high-temperature superalloys, as indicated by primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S. Its centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole. The variable index flute spacing reduces harmonic vibration during cutting, making it appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes in production and toolroom settings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement end mill compatible with standard straight-bore collet chucks and end mill holders accepting a 6.00 mm (0.2362-inch) shank diameter. Intended for use on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills equipped for carbide tooling. Compatible workpiece material codes: H, K, M, P, S.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle lock is engaged before installing or removing the end mill. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder and torque the retention system according to the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. Inspect the cutting edges and shank for nicks or runout with a dial indicator before beginning a new operation.
