The SGS 70475 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in demanding machining environments. Built to Series 63 specifications, it features a 0.25-inch cutting diameter, a 1.5-inch length of cut, and a 4-inch overall length with a 0.25-inch straight-cylindrical shank. The four-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 38-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting performance. An AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and surface hardness suited to high-speed dry or semi-dry cutting operations. Micrograin carbide substrate adds wear resistance across extended tool life. This end mill is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
The SGS 70475 is suited for milling operations on a range of workpiece materials including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon and alloy steels, and high-temperature superalloys, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, P, and S. The extra-long length type supports reaching into deeper pockets or stepped features where standard-length end mills cannot reach. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral and slot milling. Variable index flute spacing helps reduce harmonic vibration during high-feed passes.
Compatible with workpiece materials classified under codes H, K, M, P, and S, which include hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, general steels, and high-temperature superalloys. Fits standard 0.25-inch collets, ER chucks, and end mill holders used in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and the machine is in a safe-stop state before loading or unloading the tool. Secure the shank to the full recommended grip depth in the tool holder and verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut. Follow machine tool manufacturer torque specifications for the tool holder being used.
