The SGS 70445 is a 4-flute solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance finishing operations in demanding machining environments. With a 0.1875-inch (3/16-inch) mill diameter and a 1.125-inch length of cut, this tool is built for precision profiling, contouring, and 3D surface finishing. The 45-degree high helix geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces, while the AlTiN coating provides excellent heat resistance and extended tool life in hard and abrasive materials. The micrograin carbide substrate adds toughness and edge retention for consistent results across production runs. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working in aerospace, die-mold, and general metalworking applications will recognize the Series 7B construction as a proven platform for tight-tolerance finishing cuts.
This end mill is suited for finishing passes on ferrous and non-ferrous materials including hardened steels, stainless, titanium, high-temperature alloys, and cast iron, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, P, and S. The extra-long 3.0-inch overall length allows reach into deep pockets, cavities, and contoured part features where standard-length tools cannot access. The variable index geometry helps reduce harmonic vibration during extended-reach cuts. Single-end configuration with a right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction is standard for conventional CNC milling setups.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and milling machines accepting a 0.1875-inch (3/16-inch) shank diameter. Suitable for workpiece materials designated under codes H, K, M, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast iron, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder, ensuring full engagement depth per toolholder manufacturer guidelines. Inspect the collet and taper for wear or contamination before installation. Set speeds and feeds according to the workpiece material, depth of cut, and radial engagement - do not exceed the toolholder or spindle rated runout tolerance, as extra-long reach tools are more sensitive to runout than standard-length end mills.
