The SGS 70442 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding applications. Built on the Series 7B platform, this single-end tool features a 0.125 inch mill diameter and a 1 inch length of cut, with an extra-long 3 inch overall length that provides extended reach into deep cavities and pockets. The four-flute, right-hand spiral design runs at a 45-degree high helix angle, promoting efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. An AlTiN coating improves heat resistance and tool life in abrasive and high-temperature cutting environments. The micrograin carbide substrate delivers the edge toughness needed for finishing passes on difficult materials.
This end mill is suited for precision finishing operations in tool rooms, production shops, and aerospace or medical component machining environments. The variable index geometry reduces chatter and harmonic vibration during cut, making it effective for tight-tolerance work in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers using standard ER or similar collet toolholding systems. Primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S indicate suitability across a range of steels, stainless alloys, titanium, cast iron, and non-ferrous materials.

Verify runout at the tool tip prior to cutting to protect the 0.125 inch diameter from deflection-related breakage. Do not use this tool in worn or out-of-spec toolholders, as shank fit directly affects edge life and dimensional output.
