The SGS 66658 is a taper length solid carbide drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial and trade applications. Built to DIN 6537 specification, this Series 142P bit features a 135-degree standard point angle with web thinning for reduced thrust and cleaner entry. The micrograin solid carbide construction is coated with Ti-NAMITE-X (TX coating) for extended tool life and heat resistance. At 11/32 inches in diameter with a flute-to-diameter ratio of 8xD, it is suited for deep-hole drilling where standard-length bits fall short. Licensed tradespeople and machinists working in metal fabrication, HVAC equipment manufacturing, and mechanical contracting rely on this geometry for consistent hole quality.
The SGS 66658 is intended for universal material applications including steel, stainless, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. The spiral flute and right-hand cut geometry evacuate chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole operations. The straight cylindrical shank with a 10 mm diameter seats cleanly in standard drill chucks and collet holders. Coolant-through capability makes this bit well suited for CNC machining centers and production drilling setups where extended run times and tight diameter tolerances are required. The flute length of 95 mm (3.74 inches) supports a maximum drilling depth of 3.74 inches.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines accepting a straight cylindrical shank with a 10 mm shank diameter. Suitable for use in standard drill chucks and precision collet holders compatible with straight-shank tooling.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool setter familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Ensure the machine spindle and chuck or collet are clean and free of runout before seating the shank. Carbide is brittle compared to high-speed steel — avoid lateral loading, interrupted cuts without proper feed rates, or drop impacts that can cause chipping. When using the coolant-through feature, confirm coolant pressure and flow rate are appropriate for the machine and material before beginning the cut.
