The SGS 66628 is a taper length drill bit built for high-performance metal cutting and universal material applications. Machined from micrograin solid carbide and finished with a TX coating, this bit delivers extended tool life and thermal resistance in demanding drilling environments. It features a 135-degree split point for reduced thrust and self-centering entry, a web-thinned design for improved chip evacuation, and a right-hand spiral flute configuration. The cylindrical shank measures 5.99 mm in diameter and is compatible with standard chucks. This bit is sold individually and suited for use by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and precision fabricators.
The SGS 66628 is designed for taper-length drilling applications where extended reach beyond a jobber-length bit is required. Its 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports deeper hole profiles while maintaining rigidity. The universal material grade makes it applicable across a broad range of workpiece materials. Coolant-through capability allows for internal coolant delivery, supporting chip clearing and heat management during deep-hole operations. This bit conforms to DIN 6537 specification, making it a direct fit for shops that source to DIN standards.
Designed as a high-performance taper length drill bit for use in standard cylindrical-shank tool holders across universal material applications per DIN 6537.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom professionals familiar with CNC machining centers or manual drill press setups. Ensure the machine spindle and chuck are powered down and secured before installing or removing the bit. Verify chuck or collet bore is clean and sized to accept the cylindrical shank before clamping. When enabling coolant-through operation, confirm the machine spindle supports internal coolant delivery at the required pressure.
