The SGS 66623 is a taper length drill bit engineered for precision drilling in demanding applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide and finished with a TX coating, this bit delivers extended tool life and resistance to heat buildup compared to high-speed steel alternatives. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry, minimizing the need for center punching. At 7/64 inch (0.1850 inch decimal) in diameter, it suits tight-tolerance hole work in metal, composite, and universal material applications. Flute length measures 1-21/64 inches and overall length is 2-53/64 inches. It is designed for use by machinists, maintenance technicians, and tool-room professionals.
The SGS 66623 fits applications where a taper length body is required to reach deeper features or clear chips more effectively than a jobber-length bit. The 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports drilling depths up to 1.6929 inches. The cylindrical shank seats in standard drill chucks and collet holders. Coolant-through capability makes it well suited for CNC machining centers and high-production environments where internal coolant delivery is available. The right-hand spiral flute and web-thinned geometry reduce thrust force and improve chip evacuation in both ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and handheld drilling equipment equipped with standard chuck or collet systems accepting a cylindrical shank. Suited for universal material applications per Series 142P design intent.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tool-room personnel familiar with cutting tool selection and speeds-and-feeds practices. Ensure the spindle and workpiece are fully secured before engaging the bit. When using coolant-through capability, verify coolant pressure and flow rate are appropriate for the machine and material before operation. Inspect the cutting edge for chipping or wear before each use, as carbide tooling can fracture if run in an unsupported or misaligned setup.
