The SGS 66611 is a taper length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling across a wide range of materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with Ti-NAMITE-X (TX) for extended tool life, this bit features a 135-degree split point that self-centers on contact and reduces thrust force. The 9/64-inch diameter is ground to a tight tolerance of +0.00016 to +0.00063 inches for consistent hole quality. With a spiral flute design and web-thinned point, it handles chip evacuation efficiently in deeper drilling applications. Licensed trade machinists and precision fabricators are the primary installers and operators of this tooling.
This drill bit is suited for universal material applications including steel, stainless, aluminum, and cast iron. The 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio makes it appropriate for taper-length and deep-hole operations where a jobber-length bit would fall short. The straight cylindrical shank with a diameter of approximately 0.236 inches fits standard drill chucks and collet toolholders. It conforms to DIN 6537 specification, making it compatible with DIN-standard toolholding setups common in CNC machining centers and manual drill presses alike. Single-piece packaging suits individual replacement or low-volume precision work.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and collet toolholders accepting a straight cylindrical shank. Conforms to DIN 6537 specification, compatible with DIN-standard toolholding systems on CNC machining centers and manual drill presses.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling procedures. Ensure the toolholder and spindle are clean and free of debris before seating the shank, as contamination can cause runout and premature tool failure. Carbide tooling is brittle and should not be subjected to side loads or impact that would be acceptable with high-speed steel drills. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing or inspecting tooling.
