The SGS 66610 is a taper length twist drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding production and machining environments. Built from solid micrograin carbide with a TX coating, this bit delivers extended tool life and thermal resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. It measures 9/64 inch (0.1339 inch / 3.40 mm) in diameter with a 135-degree split point for fast penetration and reduced walking on entry. The flute length runs 1-21/64 inches (1.3386 inches) and the overall length is 2-53/64 inches (2.8047 inches). A web-thinned geometry reduces thrust force and improves chip evacuation. Machinists, tool and die shops, and CNC operators are the primary users of this type of tooling.
The SGS 66610 Series 142P is rated for universal material application, making it suited for use in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, alloys, and composites in both manual and CNC drilling operations. The cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet systems without modification. The 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports deeper hole applications while maintaining rigidity at this small diameter. This bit conforms to DIN 6537 specification, which is a common standard in precision metalworking and toolroom environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct tooling selection for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines accepting a cylindrical shank drill bit at 9/64 inch diameter. Universal material application rating as stated by the manufacturer.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine powered down and spindle fully stopped. Secure the cylindrical shank in a properly sized collet or drill chuck to the depth recommended by the machine manufacturer. This is a precision carbide tool — avoid using it in impact or hammer-drill modes, as carbide is brittle under lateral shock loads. When using the coolant-through feature, verify that spindle coolant pressure and flow rate are within the machine and toolholder specifications before running.
