The SGS 66598 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking and machining applications. Built to DIN 6537 specification, it features a 135-degree split point, Ti-NAMITE-X coating, and a web-thinned tip for reduced thrust and faster penetration. The 13.80 mm diameter cuts to a maximum depth of 60.00 mm, making it well-suited for through-hole and blind-hole work in tough materials. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed operations where heat management is critical. This is a tool for machinists, tool-and-die shops, and CNC operators running production or precision work.
The SGS 66598 is used in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills handling steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar hard materials. The Series 142P designation places it in a high-performance carbide drill family intended for shops that require tight tolerances and consistent hole quality. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and two-flute spiral design support chip evacuation in both through-coolant and dry-drilling setups. Typical applications include production drilling, fixture building, and precision part manufacturing where hole geometry and surface finish matter.
Designed as a DIN 6537 standard jobber drill for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and milling machines accepting a 14.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Fits standard ER collet chucks and drill chuck toolholders sized for the 0.3100-inch shank diameter.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out. Seat the straight shank fully in the collet or chuck and verify runout before cutting. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety standards for carbide tooling. Do not use this drill in handheld applications — it is designed for rigid machine tool setups only.
