The SGS 66582 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding shop and field applications. Built to DIN 6537 standards, it features a 135-degree split point, a Ti-NAMITE-X coating for heat and wear resistance, and a web-thinned geometry that reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 12.00 mm in diameter and is compatible with standard drill chucks and toolholders. With two spiral flutes and a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio, this bit is suited for machinists and fabricators who need consistent hole quality in ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
The SGS 66582 is used in production machining, tool-and-die work, and precision fabrication environments where carbide tooling is preferred over HSS for its hardness and thermal stability. The 10.90 mm cutting diameter, coolant-through design, and micrograin carbide substrate make it a strong choice for CNC drilling operations where repeatable tolerances and long tool life are critical. It is sold individually and is suitable for both horizontal and vertical machining centers as well as manual drill presses with appropriate toolholding.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and toolholders accepting a 12.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and similar equipment configured for jobber-length carbide drill bits in the 10.00 mm to 12.50 mm diameter range.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out state per applicable safety procedures. Ensure the toolholder or chuck is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Coolant-through setups should be verified for proper pressure and flow before beginning a drilling cycle. Do not exceed the maximum drilling depth of 56.00 mm without retracting to clear chips.
