Product Description

The SGS 66573 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance metal drilling applications. It measures 10.00 mm (0.3937 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 103.00 mm (4.0551 inches) and a flute length of 61.00 mm (2.4016 inches). The 135-degree split point reduces walking and cutting force on entry. The Ti-NAMITE-X (TX) proprietary finish improves surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated carbide. Built to DIN 6537 specification, this bit uses a web-thinned geometry and micrograin carbide substrate suited for demanding drilling in hard and abrasive materials. Machinists, tool and die makers, and CNC operators are the primary users.

The SGS 66573 is suited for precision drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, cast iron, hardened alloys, and similar difficult-to-machine materials. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and coolant-through design make it a solid choice for deep-hole operations where chip evacuation and heat management are critical. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders in manual or CNC machine tool setups. This bit is sold individually and is appropriate for both production and maintenance machining environments.

Key Features

  • Solid micrograin carbide construction for hardness and edge retention in difficult materials
  • Ti-NAMITE-X (TX) coating enhances wear resistance and reduces built-up edge
  • 135-degree web-thinned split point for reduced entry force and accurate hole placement
  • Coolant-through design supports deep-hole drilling and chip flushing
  • Right-hand cut, 2-flute regular spiral geometry for efficient chip evacuation
  • Built to DIN 6537 specification with a straight cylindrical shank for broad machine tool compatibility

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit drill bit for standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 10.00 mm (0.4700 inch) straight cylindrical shank, within the SGS Series 142P high-performance carbide drill line.

Installation Notes

Installation of this drill bit should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank fully within the chuck or collet to the manufacturer-recommended engagement depth before operation. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Do not exceed the rated maximum drilling depth of 49.00 mm (1.9291 inches) in a single pass without retracting to clear chips, particularly when coolant-through capability is not in use.
