The SGS 66571 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance metal cutting applications. It measures 9.80 mm (0.3858 inches) in diameter with a 135-degree split point and a Ti-NAMITE-X coating designed to extend tool life and resist heat buildup at elevated cutting speeds. The overall length is 103.00 mm (4.06 inches), and the straight-cylindrical shank measures 10.00 mm in diameter. Web thinning at the point reduces thrust force and improves chip evacuation. This drill is intended for use by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and precision metalworking tradespeople who require tight tolerances and consistent hole quality in production environments.
The SGS 66571 is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard or abrasive materials where standard high-speed steel tooling falls short. The micrograin carbide substrate and Ti-NAMITE-X coating make it appropriate for CNC machining centers and manual drill presses running at higher surface footage. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides adequate chip clearance for moderate-depth holes. Coolant-through capability allows internal coolant delivery to the cutting zone, reducing thermal load during deep-hole operations. It conforms to DIN 6537 specification.
Designed as a Series 142P OEM-style jobber drill for use in standard drill chucks or collets accepting a 10.00 mm (0.4700 inch) straight shank. Compatible with CNC machining centers and manual drill presses equipped for coolant-through tooling.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine fully powered down and all stored energy released before handling. Ensure the chuck or collet bore is clean and free of chips before seating the shank to maintain runout tolerances. A licensed machinist or qualified toolroom technician should verify spindle speed and feed rate against the material being drilled before operation. Do not exceed the maximum recommended drilling depth of 49.00 mm (1.93 inches) without retracting to clear chips.
