The SGS 66558 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial and trade applications. It measures 8.50 mm (0.3346 inches) in diameter with a 135-degree split point angle and a Ti-NAMITE-X (TX) proprietary finish that improves wear resistance and heat dissipation. The overall length is 103.00 mm (4.0551 inches), and the flute length is 61.00 mm (2.4016 inches). Built to DIN 6537 specification, this bit is engineered for machinists, tool and die professionals, and skilled fabricators who require tight tolerances and consistent performance in production environments.
The SGS 66558 is suited for precision drilling in steel, cast iron, stainless, and other hard materials where carbide substrate and a high-performance coating are required. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and CNC machining center toolholders. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and coolant-through capability make it appropriate for deep-hole applications in automated or semi-automated setups where internal coolant delivery is available. The web-thinned point reduces thrust at entry and helps maintain positional accuracy without a center punch in many setups.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and CNC machining center toolholders that accept a 10.00 mm (0.2300 inch) straight cylindrical shank. Fits drill bit size range 8.00 mm to 9.00 mm (0.3000 to 0.3500 inches) application categories per SGS Series 142P.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling professionals familiar with carbide cutting tools. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are clean and properly torqued before seating the shank. Carbide is brittle — avoid side-loading or using this bit as a reamer substitute. When using coolant-through capability, verify the machine's internal coolant pressure and flow rate are appropriate for the workpiece material before engaging the cut.
