The SGS 66544 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial and trade applications. Built to DIN 6537 standards, it features a 7.10 mm (0.2795 inch) diameter, a 135-degree split point, and a Ti-NAMITE-X coating that extends tool life and reduces heat buildup at the cutting edge. The micrograin carbide construction provides the rigidity and edge retention needed for consistent hole quality in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. With coolant-through capability and a web-thinned point, this bit reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation in deep-hole operations. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and precision fabricators will find it suited for production drilling where standard high-speed steel bits fall short.
The SGS 66544 is intended for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and automated production equipment where coolant-through tooling is supported. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports drilling to a maximum depth of 29.00 mm (1.1417 inches), making it appropriate for through-holes and moderate-depth blind holes in precision components. This bit is a strong fit for aerospace, automotive, mold-and-die, and general metalworking environments where tight tolerances and consistent performance are required.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and toolholders accepting a straight-cylindrical shank with an 8.00 mm (0.2300 inch) shank diameter. Compatible with equipment supporting coolant-through tooling at the spindle or toolholder level.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with carbide tooling. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are clean and free of runout before seating the shank, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to lateral loading from misalignment. When using coolant-through capability, confirm that coolant pressure and flow rate are within the machine and toolholder specifications before engaging the cut. Never use carbide drill bits in hand-held portable drills, as vibration and off-axis loading will cause chipping or breakage.
