The SGS 66542 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding production environments. Built to DIN 6537 specification, it features a 135-degree split point with web thinning to reduce thrust and improve centering on entry. The Ti-NAMITE-X coating provides elevated hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous applications. At 6.90 mm in diameter with a 3.58-inch overall length and a 2.09-inch flute length, this drill is suited for machine shops, precision fabrication, and CNC drilling operations where consistent hole quality and tight tolerances are required. Installation is performed by machinists and tooling professionals.
The SGS 66542 is intended for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and other rigid setups requiring precise, repeatable hole location. The straight-cylindrical shank at 8.00 mm diameter seats securely in standard chucks and collets. With a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and a maximum drilling depth of 1.14 inches (29.00 mm), this bit is well-matched to through-hole and blind-hole applications in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials where micrograin carbide and Ti-NAMITE-X coating deliver reliable results.
Designed for use in rigid CNC and manual drilling setups accepting a straight-cylindrical shank. Fits standard chucks and collets sized for an 8.00 mm shank diameter. Part of the SGS Series 142P jobber drill line covering the 6.00 mm to 7.00 mm diameter range.
This drill bit is installed by machinists or tooling technicians in a machine tool spindle using an appropriate collet, chuck, or toolholder rated for the shank diameter. Ensure the machine spindle and workpiece are properly secured before operation. Verify coolant-through compatibility with the spindle and toolholder before engaging internal coolant flow. Inspect the cutting edge for chips or wear before each use and replace when dimensional accuracy or surface finish degrades.
