The SGS 66537 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. It features a 1/4 inch (0.2500 inch) diameter, a 135-degree split-point angle, and a Ti-NAMITE-X (TX) proprietary coating that extends cutting tool life and reduces heat buildup. The straight cylindrical shank measures 0.3100 inches in diameter, and the overall length is 3.5827 inches. Built to DIN 6537 specification using micrograin carbide, this bit is suited for precision work in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It includes a coolant-through design, making it appropriate for CNC machining centers and production drilling environments. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers.
This drill bit is intended for use in CNC machining operations where tight tolerances and consistent hole quality are required. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and web-thinned point support efficient chip evacuation and reduced entry force. With a right-hand cut spiral flute and 2-flute geometry, it is suited for through-hole and blind-hole drilling in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials. The coolant-through capability makes it compatible with high-speed production setups where coolant delivery through the spindle is available.
Designed as a high-performance replacement or production drill bit for use in CNC machining centers and drill presses accepting a 0.3100 inch straight cylindrical shank. Part of the SGS Series 142P line, covering the 0.2500 to 0.3000 inch diameter range (6.00 to 7.00 mm).
This bit should be installed by qualified machinists in appropriate tool holders or collet chucks rated for the shank diameter. Verify spindle runout and holder concentricity before use to maintain diameter tolerance of +0.00024 to +0.00083 inch. When using the coolant-through feature, confirm coolant pressure and flow rate are compatible with the machine spindle before engaging the cut. Do not use this bit in handheld drills or non-rigid setups, as carbide tooling is brittle and susceptible to fracture under lateral loading.
