The SGS 66526 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance metal cutting applications. It features a 5.30 mm (0.2087 inch) diameter, a 135-degree split point, and a Ti-NAMITE-X coating that extends tool life in abrasive and hard materials. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 6.00 mm in diameter and fits standard drill chucks without adapters. With an overall length of 82.00 mm (3.2283 inches) and a flute length of 44.00 mm (1.7323 inches), this drill is suited for production machining, maintenance shops, and toolroom work where dimensional accuracy and consistent hole quality are required. It is installed and operated by machinists, tool and die makers, and maintenance technicians.
The 66526 is designed for drilling through ferrous and non-ferrous metals, hardened steels, cast iron, and similar materials where a high-performance carbide tool is preferred over high-speed steel. The Series 142P geometry incorporates web thinning to reduce thrust and improve chip evacuation. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and coolant-through capability make it well suited for CNC machining centers and programmable drill presses operating with through-spindle or flood coolant. Right-hand cutting direction is standard. The micrograin carbide substrate provides edge retention at elevated cutting speeds.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and production drill in the SGS Series 142P line, sized for standard 6.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank chucks on CNC machining centers and drill presses. Diameter tolerance of +0.00024 to +0.00083 inches (+0.006 to +0.021 mm) per specification.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with rotating cutting tools. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout with a dial indicator when close-tolerance holes are required. Power down the spindle completely before changing the drill or inspecting the cutting edge. Do not use this tool without appropriate coolant flow when operating on coolant-through setups, as running dry can cause premature carbide failure.
