The SGS 66474 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in a wide range of workpiece materials. Built to DIN 6537 standards, it features a 135-degree split point geometry with web thinning for fast penetration and reduced thrust. The Ti-NAMITE-X coating improves surface hardness, heat resistance, and tool life compared to uncoated carbide. At 10.40 mm (0.4094 inches) in diameter with a 102 mm (4.016 inch) overall length, this bit suits CNC machining centers, drill presses, and handheld pneumatic tools where a compact stub-length geometry is required. It is sold individually.
The SGS 66474 is rated for universal primary workpiece materials, making it suitable for ferrous metals, non-ferrous alloys, plastics, and composites in general metalworking, manufacturing, and maintenance applications. The coolant-through design supports internal coolant delivery for deep-hole control and chip evacuation, making it well suited for production environments where thermal management and chip clearing are priorities. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and screw machine length keep deflection low in short-reach setups on CNC lathes, machining centers, and turret drill presses.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and production-grade drill bit for Series 142P tooling setups. Fits standard straight-cylindrical drill chucks and collets accepting a 12.00 mm (0.310 inch) shank diameter. Compatible with any CNC or manual drilling application specifying a DIN 6537 screw machine length drill in the 9.50 mm to 11.00 mm diameter range.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tool-and-die professionals familiar with carbide cutting tool handling. Ensure the machine spindle, chuck, and collet are fully de-energized and locked out before changing tooling. Solid carbide bits are brittle and should not be used in setups with significant side load or runout; verify chuck runout is within acceptable limits before cutting. Always confirm coolant-through compatibility with the machine spindle before engaging internal coolant flow.
