The SGS 66446 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling across a wide range of materials. Built to DIN 6537 specifications, it features a 23/64-inch (0.2992 inch) diameter, a 135-degree split point, and a Ti-NAMITE-X coating that extends tool life in demanding applications. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.390 inches in diameter, and the overall length is 3.5 inches. With a web-thinned point and 4-margin geometry, this bit delivers improved centering accuracy and reduced thrust load. It is intended for use by machinists, tool and die technicians, and maintenance professionals working with precision drilling operations.
The SGS 66446 is suited for production and maintenance drilling in shop and field environments where a short, rigid drill profile is required. The screw machine length design minimizes deflection, making it well-suited for close-tolerance work on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines. It is rated for universal workpiece materials, meaning it performs across ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, and many alloys. The coolant-through design supports internal coolant delivery when used in compatible tool holders, which helps manage heat and chip evacuation at higher feed rates.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or production drill bit for use in standard straight-shank tool holders and chucks accepting a 0.390-inch shank diameter. Fits SGS Series 142P tooling configurations.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with cutting tool setup. Secure the shank fully in the tool holder or chuck before operation and verify runout before drilling. Power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling. Do not use this bit beyond its rated maximum drilling depth of 1.6142 inches without repositioning or pecking cycles.
