The SGS 66403 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in a wide range of materials. Built from solid micrograin carbide and coated with Ti-NAMITE-X, this bit delivers extended tool life and resistance to wear under demanding cutting conditions. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements compared to standard 118-degree geometry. At 2.44 inches overall length with a 15/16-inch flute, this stub-length design provides added rigidity, making it well suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and automated production equipment. It is installed by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and precision fabricators.
The 66403 is designed for universal workpiece materials, meaning it performs across steel, stainless, aluminum, cast iron, and similar metals without requiring a material-specific formulation. The straight cylindrical shank at 0.23 inches diameter seats in standard collets and chucks. Coolant-through capability allows cutting fluid to be delivered directly to the cutting edge, extending tool life and improving chip evacuation in deep-hole or high-feed applications. The web-thinned point and four-margin construction support precision hole location and improved surface finish. Series 142P bits conform to DIN 6537 specification.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use screw machine drill bit for use in standard collets, drill chucks, and CNC tool holders accepting a straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for universal workpiece materials per Series 142P application guidelines.
Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians on CNC machining centers, drill presses, or manual lathes equipped with appropriate collet or chuck systems. Secure the shank fully in the collet or chuck to the rated grip depth before operating. Verify spindle speed and feed rate against the material being drilled and the manufacturer cutting data for solid carbide tooling. Do not use damaged or chipped carbide bits, as carbide is brittle and can fracture if subjected to shock loading or improper setup.
