The SGS 57183 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit sized at letter K (0.281 inches diameter) with a 118-degree, four-facet point. It carries an AlTiN (Ti-NAMITE-A) coating that improves heat resistance and extends tool life in demanding materials. The bit runs a right-hand, regular spiral flute with a straight cylindrical shank and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration to reduce entry force. Overall length is 3.5 inches. Manufactured to DIN 338 standards in Series 101 micrograin carbide grade, this bit is suited for general-purpose drilling operations where tight diameter tolerance is required.
This bit is appropriate for use in machine shop environments, maintenance facilities, and production drilling applications. The AlTiN coating makes it well suited for harder materials including alloy steels, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. It is designed for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power tools with compatible straight-shank chucks. The 0.281-inch diameter and 3.5-inch overall length fit standard jobber-length applications across light to moderate production work.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks accepting a 0.281-inch shank diameter. Suitable for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and handheld power tools within the 0.2500 to 0.3000 inch drill bit size range.
Installation and use should be performed by machinists or qualified tradespeople familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before drilling. Always match spindle speed and feed rate to the workpiece material and bit diameter per standard machining data. Do not exceed the maximum recommended drilling depth of 1.703 inches per pass without retracting to clear chips.
