The SGS 57090 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide and finished with an AlTiN (Ti-NAMITE-A) coating, this bit delivers extended tool life when cutting hard and abrasive materials. It features a 118-degree four-facet point for accurate self-centering and clean entry, a regular right-hand spiral flute for efficient chip evacuation, and a straight cylindrical shank for secure chuck holding. Overall length is 1.25 inches with a flute length of 0.5 inches. The diameter tolerance is held to +0.0000 to -0.0005 inches, making it suitable for close-tolerance work. Licensed HVAC and mechanical trades, machinists, and precision fabricators are the primary installers.
The SGS 57090 is suited for drilling small-diameter holes in hard metals, stainless steel, cast iron, and other abrasive materials where standard high-speed steel bits fall short. Its 1/32 inch diameter and compact 1.25 inch overall length make it appropriate for tight-clearance drilling tasks encountered in HVAC equipment fabrication, refrigeration component work, electrical panel fabrication, and general mechanical service. The Series 101 designation places it in SGS general-purpose carbide jobber drill offerings conforming to DIN 338 standards. Sold individually with a minimum order quantity of one.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-purpose jobber drill bit conforming to DIN 338 standards, compatible with standard drill chucks accepting a 1/32 inch straight shank.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with carbide tooling. At the small diameter of 1/32 inch, carbide is brittle and susceptible to breakage from side loading or excessive feed pressure — use only the recommended feed rate and avoid lateral deflection. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling to prevent walking or bit deflection. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; apply cutting fluid externally when working with hard or heat-sensitive materials.
