The SGS 56480 is a taper length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling across a wide range of materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with Ti-NAMITE-X (TX), it delivers superior hardness, heat resistance, and edge retention compared to standard high-speed steel tooling. The 135-degree split point reduces walking and improves centering on entry without a pilot hole. At 7/32 inch diameter with a spiral flute and web-thinned point, this bit is suited for precision hole-making in production and maintenance environments. It is installed and operated by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and maintenance technicians working with CNC equipment or manual drill presses.
The SGS 56480 Series 142P is rated for universal material application, making it appropriate for use in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials encountered in industrial and commercial shop environments. The 8xD flute-length-to-diameter ratio and coolant-through design support deep-hole drilling where chip evacuation and heat management are critical. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders without adapters.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or production drill bit for use in standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a straight cylindrical shank in the 7/32 inch diameter range.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with drill press or CNC spindle setup. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the bit. Verify chuck or collet grip is secure and that the shank is fully seated before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling ferrous metals, particularly when using the coolant-through channel, to maximize tool life and surface finish.
