The SGS 56454 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding shop and field environments. Measuring 11/32 inch (8.73 mm) in diameter with a 135-degree split point and Ti-NAMITE-X coating, this bit is built to handle hard and abrasive materials with reduced heat buildup and extended tool life. The web-thinned point geometry improves penetration and reduces thrust requirements at entry. With an overall length of 4.0551 inches and a 2-flute spiral flute design, it delivers efficient chip evacuation in through-hole and blind-hole applications. Manufactured to DIN 6537 specification using micrograin carbide stock, it meets the demands of precision machining operations.
The SGS 56454 suits CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual operations requiring consistent hole quality in steel, stainless, cast iron, and other hard metals. The coolant-through design supports high-speed cutting with internal coolant delivery to the cutting zone, making it appropriate for production environments where cycle time and tool longevity matter. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collets and drill chucks. It is commonly installed by machinists and tool-and-die technicians in job shop, aerospace, and industrial manufacturing settings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for applications requiring a 11/32-inch straight-cylindrical shank jobber drill conforming to DIN 6537 in Series 142P.
Installation is performed by machinists or qualified tool operators. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the collet or drill chuck and torque the chuck to the machine manufacturer's specification. Verify coolant-through passages are clear and coolant pressure is set per machine requirements before engaging the cut.
