The SGS 56410 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in a wide range of materials. With a 1/4 inch (0.2500 inch) diameter and a 137-degree split point, this bit delivers fast penetration and accurate hole starts without center-punching. The web-thinned tip reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. At 3.11 inches overall length, the screw machine (stub) format provides added rigidity over jobber-length bits, reducing deflection in demanding applications. Coolant-through capability makes it suitable for use in CNC machining centers and automated drilling equipment where through-spindle coolant is available. Two regular spiral flutes and a proprietary coated finish extend tool life in production environments.
The SGS 56410 is suited for precision drilling operations in metalworking, manufacturing, and fabrication shops. Its universal primary workpiece material rating means it can be run in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, cast iron, and similar materials, depending on feeds, speeds, and coolant strategy. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders. Its compact stub length makes it a preferred choice for applications requiring close-tolerance holes in tight clearance situations or on CNC machining centers where tool stick-out must be minimized.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or production tooling option for standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 1/4 inch shank diameter. Conforms to DIN 6537 specification.
Install and remove drill bits only with the spindle fully stopped and lockout/tagout procedures followed per facility safety requirements. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the chuck or collet is properly torqued before operation. Verify that through-spindle coolant pressure and flow rate are within the range recommended by your machine tool manufacturer before engaging coolant-through operation. Carbide tooling is brittle — avoid impact loading, side pressure, or interrupted cuts without confirming the bit is rated for that application.
