The SGS 56407 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in a wide range of materials. Built to Series 142P standards and conforming to DIN 6537, this bit features a 13/64 inch (0.2031 inch) diameter, a 137-degree drill point angle, and a web-thinned standard point for reduced thrust and improved hole entry. The micrograin solid carbide construction delivers superior hardness and wear resistance compared to HSS tooling. Two spiral flutes with a right-hand cut and a proprietary coated finish round out the design. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and CNC operators install this bit in screw machine, drill press, and machining center applications.
The 56407 is suited for universal workpiece materials, making it appropriate for production drilling in metals, plastics, and composites. With a flute-by-diameter ratio of 3xD, it handles moderate-depth holes efficiently. The straight cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders. Coolant-through capability allows internal coolant delivery to the cutting edge, reducing heat buildup and extending tool life in demanding production environments. This bit is sold individually and is a practical choice wherever tight-tolerance holes are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or production drill bit for use in screw machine, drill press, and CNC machining center setups that accept straight cylindrical shank tooling in the 13/64 inch diameter range.
Installation is performed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the straight shank fully and evenly in the chuck or collet and torque the retention mechanism per the machine manufacturer's specification. When using coolant-through capability, verify that coolant pressure and flow rate are compatible with the machine's internal coolant system before operation.
