The SGS 56115 is a straight-flute solid carbide drill bit engineered for precision drilling in ferrous and hardened materials. It features a 140-degree standard point angle with web thinning to reduce thrust and improve hole entry, and carries a bright uncoated finish suited for applications where coating is not required. The bit measures 0.2344 inches (15/64 inches) in diameter with a flute length of 1.3125 inches and an overall length of 2.4375 inches. Built to DIN 6539 standards from micrograin carbide, this bit is sized for high-accuracy work where tight dimensional tolerances are critical. It is sold individually and is rated for a maximum drilling depth of 1.0470 inches.
The SGS 56115 is designed for drilling cast iron, steel, and hardened steel in machine shop, toolroom, and production environments. Its straight-flute geometry makes it particularly well suited for drilling brittle materials such as cast iron, where chip control is a priority. This bit is intended for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and other rigid machine setups where runout is minimized. It is not intended for hand-drill use. Machinists and toolroom operators working with hardened workpieces will find the micrograin carbide substrate provides the rigidity needed for consistent results.
Designed for use in rigid machine tool setups drilling cast iron, steel, and hardened steel and hardened materials as specified for SGS Series 106 straight-flute carbide drill bits.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom professionals using rigid machine tool setups such as CNC machining centers or drill presses. Ensure the spindle and chuck are clean and concentric before seating the bit to avoid runout that can cause premature carbide failure. Power down and de-energize the machine completely before changing tooling. Solid carbide tooling is brittle and susceptible to breakage under lateral load or interrupted cuts if the setup is not rigid.
