The SGS 56113 is a straight-flute drill bit machined from solid micrograin carbide and intended for precision drilling in ferrous metals and hardened materials. The bit measures 0.2031 inches (13/64 inches) in diameter with a 140-degree point angle and a web-thinned tip geometry that reduces thrust and improves hole entry. Overall length is 2.25 inches, with a flute length of 1.1875 inches. The bright, uncoated finish is standard for solid carbide applications where coating compatibility or regrinding flexibility is a priority. This is a Series 106 tool conforming to DIN 6539 standards, suited for machinists, toolroom technicians, and precision fabricators working on close-tolerance applications.
The SGS 56113 is designed for drilling cast iron, hardened steel, and general steel workpieces. Its straight-flute geometry makes it particularly effective in materials that produce short, chippy swarf rather than long stringy chips, preventing chip packing in the flutes. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and right-hand cutting direction are consistent with standard drill press, CNC machining center, and manual mill setups. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool, so surface-applied cutting fluid or mist coolant is appropriate when drilling harder grades of steel or hardened materials.

This bit is installed by a machinist or toolroom technician into a collet or keyless chuck that matches the 0.2031-inch shank diameter. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling to prevent movement and bit breakage, which is a particular risk with solid carbide tooling. Because coolant-through is not supported, apply cutting fluid directly to the drill point or use mist coolant when working hardened or abrasive materials. Inspect the tip for chipping before each use; solid carbide is brittle and should not be used in hand-held drills or applications with significant lateral load.
