The SGS 56103 is a straight-flute carbide drill bit engineered for precision drilling in ferrous metals and hardened materials. Built from micrograin carbide with a bright uncoated finish, this bit measures 0.0469 inches in diameter (3/64 inches) with a 140-degree standard point and web-thinned geometry for improved centering and reduced thrust on entry. The 2-flute straight-flute design is optimized for short-chip materials where a conventional spiral flute would pack and clog. Overall length is 1.5 inches with a 0.5-inch flute length and a 1.04-inch shank. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and HVAC or mechanical contractors drilling through hardened steel components will find this bit suited to tight-tolerance work.
The SGS 56103 is designed for drilling cast iron, hardened steel, and general steel in applications where chip evacuation must be controlled and hole accuracy is critical. Maximum drilling depth is 0.406 inches, making it appropriate for shallow through-holes and precision tapping pilots in sheet metal assemblies, valve bodies, compressor housings, and similar trade components. The bit conforms to DIN 6539 standards. It ships individually and is sold in single-piece quantity.
Designed as a Series 106 straight-flute carbide drill bit intended for use in cast iron, hardened steel, and steel workpieces, as well as secondary hardened materials where straight-flute geometry is required.
This drill bit is intended for use by machinists and qualified trade professionals operating drill presses, CNC machines, or precision hand drills with appropriate chuck capacity. Ensure the spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for carbide tooling in the target material before drilling. Carbide bits are brittle and should never be used in applications with lateral load or flex. Inspect the cutting edge before each use and do not force a chipped or worn bit.
