The SGS 56041 is a straight-flute drill bit engineered for precision drilling in hard and abrasive materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide and left uncoated, it delivers consistent dimensional accuracy with a diameter tolerance of +0.0000 to -0.0005 inches. The 140-degree point angle promotes aggressive cutting entry and reduces thrust force, while the web-thinned tip improves chip clearance at the point. With an overall length of 1.8125 inches and a flute length of 0.8125 inches, this bit is sized for compact drilling applications. It is manufactured to DIN 6539 standards and suited for HVAC technicians, machinists, and maintenance professionals working with tight-tolerance holes in metal components.
This drill bit is designed for use in cast iron, hardened steel, and general steel workpieces, with secondary suitability in hardened materials. The straight-flute geometry makes it particularly effective in brittle materials such as cast iron, where spiral flutes can cause chipping or cracking. Typical applications include drilling mounting holes, pilot holes, and clearance holes in metal assemblies during equipment fabrication or field installation. It is sold individually and fits standard drill chucks and CNC toolholders accepting a 0.0960-inch shank diameter.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and CNC toolholders that accept a 0.0960-inch shank diameter. Suitable for drilling cast iron, hardened steel, steel, and hardened materials.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the shank firmly in a drill chuck or CNC holder before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits, as carbide is brittle and susceptible to breakage from lateral loading. Do not use this bit to drill materials outside its rated workpiece material range. Maximum drilling depth is 0.656 inches; exceeding this depth without peck cycles may cause tool breakage or poor hole quality.
