The SGS 56034 is a straight-flute solid carbide drill bit designed for precision drilling in ferrous and hardened materials. Built to Series 106 standards and conforming to DIN 6539, it carries a No. 34 wire size with a decimal diameter of 0.1110 inches. The 140-degree standard point geometry reduces thrust and centers the tool quickly at entry. Web thinning further lowers cutting resistance, which is especially important when drilling through hardened steel or cast iron. The uncoated micrograin carbide construction maintains edge integrity in demanding applications where coated tooling may prematurely fail. This bit is typically installed in CNC machining centers, drill presses, or precision hand drilling fixtures by machinists and toolroom technicians.
The SGS 56034 is suited for production and maintenance drilling operations targeting cast iron, hardened steel, steel, and hardened materials. With a flute length of 0.875 inches and a maximum drilling depth of 0.703 inches, it fits applications requiring shallow, accurate holes at tight tolerances. The right-hand cutting direction and 2-flute straight-flute design allow clean chip evacuation in through-hole and blind-hole configurations. This bit is a practical choice for aerospace, automotive, die and mold, and general metalworking shops.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use drill bit for standard straight-flute toolholders and drill chucks accepting a 0.1110-inch shank diameter in Series 106 applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank fully in a collet or drill chuck rated for the spindle speed appropriate to carbide tooling in the target material. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping before each use, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to impact or side loading. Do not use this bit with coolant-through systems, as it is not designed for pressurized internal coolant delivery.
