The SGS 56025 is a straight-flute solid carbide drill bit sized to wire gauge number 25, with a 0.1495-inch diameter and a 140-degree standard point angle. Built from micrograin carbide and left uncoated, this bit is designed for precision drilling in demanding ferrous materials. The web-thinned geometry reduces entry force and improves chip evacuation in tight setups. With an overall length of 2.0625 inches and a 1-inch flute length, it fits compact drilling applications where reach and rigidity both matter. Machinists, tool-and-die shops, and production drilling operations are the primary users of this style of bit.
This bit is intended for drilling cast iron, hardened steel, and general steel workpieces, as well as hardened materials that would quickly degrade high-speed steel tooling. The straight-flute design suits applications where chip control and hole straightness are priorities over high chip-evacuation volume, such as short-hole drilling in brittle or hard materials. The 3xD maximum drilling depth ratio and right-hand cutting direction are standard for CNC and manual drill press setups in production and maintenance machining environments.
Designed as an OEM-style tooling replacement or direct addition for applications requiring wire-gauge number 25 straight-flute carbide drill bits conforming to DIN 6539, with primary suitability for cast iron, hardened steel, and general steel workpieces.
Installation of carbide drill bits should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with toolholding requirements for carbide tooling. Ensure the spindle, chuck, or collet is clean and properly torqued to manufacturer specifications before use. Carbide is brittle and susceptible to breakage from side loading or interrupted cuts at excessive feed rates — set feed and speed parameters appropriate for the workpiece material before engaging the cut. Inspect the bit for chipping or cracking before each use and replace any damaged tooling immediately.
