The SGS 56014 is a straight-flute solid carbide drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous and hardened materials. Built from micrograin carbide in an uncoated bright finish, it cuts a 0.1820-inch diameter hole with a 140-degree standard point angle that centers cleanly and resists walking. The two-flute, web-thinned geometry reduces thrust force and improves chip evacuation in difficult materials. At 2.1875 inches overall length with a 1.125-inch flute length, this bit fits standard drill chucks and CNC toolholders used in production and maintenance machining environments. It is part of SGS Series 106 and conforms to DIN 6539.
This drill bit is intended for use in cast iron, steel, and hardened steel, as well as other hardened materials where carbide is required over high-speed steel. The straight-flute design is particularly effective in brittle materials such as cast iron, where flute geometry that controls chip breakout is critical to hole quality. Maximum drilling depth is 0.906 inches, making it well suited to through-holes and shallow blind-hole operations in production machining, toolroom work, and precision repair applications. Right-hand cutting direction is standard.
Designed as an OEM-style tooling solution for No. 14 wire-gauge diameter applications; compatible with standard drill chucks and CNC toolholders accepting a 0.1820-inch round shank.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by machinists or qualified trade personnel familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to deflection. Do not use carbide drill bits in hand-held drills where lateral loading cannot be controlled. Follow applicable shop safety practices and machine guarding requirements during all drilling operations.
