The SGS 56004 is a straight-flute solid carbide drill bit in wire gauge size 4, designed for precision drilling in ferrous and hardened materials. Built to DIN 6539 standards, it features a 140-degree point angle with web thinning for improved penetration and reduced thrust. The micrograin carbide construction provides rigidity and edge retention in demanding applications. With a shank diameter of 0.2090 inches and an overall length of 2.375 inches, this bit is sized for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and precision hand tools where consistent hole tolerance is required. Cutting direction is right hand. The bright, uncoated finish is suitable for use with standard cutting fluids.
The SGS 56004 is intended for drilling into cast iron, steel, and hardened steel in industrial and machining environments. The straight-flute geometry makes it particularly effective in brittle materials like cast iron where chip evacuation via spiral flutes is less critical. Maximum recommended drilling depth is 1 inch. This bit is used by machinists, toolroom technicians, and production floor operators working with tight-tolerance hole requirements. It ships individually and is suited for single-hole or low-volume precision work as well as production setups requiring exact diameter control.
Designed for use in drill presses, machining centers, and CNC equipment that accept a 0.2090-inch straight shank. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, steel, and hardened steel. Secondary workpiece materials include other hardened materials.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in a collet or drill chuck rated for the shank diameter before operation. Carbide is brittle and susceptible to fracture from side loads, impacts, or improper runout — verify spindle and chuck runout before use. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material and do not exceed the recommended maximum drilling depth of 1 inch.
