Product Description

The SGS 53112 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers the hardness and edge retention needed to drill cast iron, hardened steel, steel, and non-ferrous metals. The 150-degree point angle reduces thrust load and centers the bit cleanly on entry. Three spiral flutes with a regular spiral type evacuate chips efficiently, while the web-thinned, tapered web configuration keeps cutting forces manageable. At 2.75 inches overall length with a 1.625-inch flute length, this bit fits standard jobber-length applications across machining and fabrication workflows.

This bit is suited for production drilling in machine shops, maintenance facilities, and fabrication environments where solid carbide tooling is required for hard or abrasive workpiece materials. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks and collet systems. With a maximum drilling depth of 1.56 inches and a flute-to-diameter ratio of 5xD, it fits typical jobber-length drilling tasks on CNC machines, drill presses, and hand-held tooling setups. It is sold individually and conforms to DIN 6539 standards.

Key Features

  • Micrograin solid carbide construction for high hardness and wear resistance in ferrous and non-ferrous materials
  • 150-degree point angle reduces entry thrust and improves self-centering on hard materials
  • Three-flute spiral design improves chip evacuation compared to standard two-flute geometry
  • Web-thinned tapered web lowers cutting force and extends tool life in tough materials
  • Bright uncoated finish — suitable for use with coolant or dry in compatible applications
  • Conforms to DIN 6539 standard for consistent dimensional tolerances

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit solid carbide jobber drill bit for use in standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 3/16-inch straight-cylindrical shank across CNC machining centers, drill presses, and comparable equipment.

Installation Notes

Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout before drilling. Solid carbide tooling is brittle — avoid side loads, interrupted cuts without proper setup, and impacts that can cause chipping. Follow applicable machine guarding and PPE requirements per OSHA and shop safety standards when operating drilling equipment.
